Advanced technology and systems produce a better-performing product
Autocam Medical specializes in CNC precision milling, turning and cutter grinding and secondary processes, adding value at every stage, from print to part. We use Design for Manufacturing (DFM), advanced technology and sophisticated company-wide systems to add value to the entire manufacturing process – from first-article parts to late-stage contracts.
Starting from the very first piece, Autocam Medical builds patient-critical quality into every part. We purchase only quality raw materials and then use third-party validation, tooling, technology and SPC to monitor critical geometries. We also use value-stream mapping, traceability and record control programs, along with CAPA systems that control the product through both the manufacturing process and product life cycle.
All Autocam Medical facilities are ISO 13485:2008 and ISO 9001:2003 certified and FDA registered.
Machining capabilities
Autocam Medical has dedicated medical manufacturing facilities in Massachusetts, Michigan and California. Every one of these manufacturing centers features top-of-the-line machinery, highly skilled and empowered technicians and processes that are based on decades of lean manufacturing experience. Our proven, comprehensive approach is documented in the booklet, Journey to Perfection, available upon request.
We have the ability to make quick changeovers in all manufacturing facilities – in many cases, within a matter of minutes. This flexibility enables us to maintain continuous flow, making Autocam Medical operations highly responsive to customer requirements and volumes. Our validated processes on all machining equipment – including mills, lathes and other CNC machines, as well as secondary finishing operations – are value-added in-house capabilities.
Specialized tool forming and engineering
Autocam Medical has extensive custom-tool production capabilities, including several 5-axis CNC cutter grinders, operated by toolmakers with in-depth toolmaking and design experience. We are able to manufacture our own special drills, reamers and complex-form tools for cutting some of the toughest metals in the industry.
Materials
We machine all medical grades of implant and non-implant stainless steel, titanium, cobalt chrome moly (CCM/CCM+), nitinol (NiTi), exotic alloys, aluminum, brass, and polymers including PEEK, polyethylene (UHMWPE), Radel and others.
